LG Electronics unveiled its new air handlers in Panama City

LG Electronics presenta sus nuevas manejadoras de aire en Ciudad de Panamá

Panama. ACR Latin America was at the official market launch of the new air conditioning solutions, produced by the LG brand for the commercial sector.

The Gran Colonial room of the Bristol Panama Hotel was the setting chosen by the multinational company to present the equipment and publicize its innovative features, such as greater capacity, in addition to its ease of transport and installation.

LG Electronics' Air Handling Unit (AHU) is designed to take commercial HVAC to new levels of efficiency and sustainability. From small offices, to restaurants, supermarkets and medium-sized malls, these devices have enough capacity to create comprehensive and reliable climate comfort, according to the manufacturer.

"This product was designed, to a large extent, for everything related to retrofit. There is equipment that has been installed for more than 15 or 20 years, with two difficulties to be replaced: the first is the space, because a lot of equipment was installed, then it was built around it and now there is the problem of how to change it. That's why we designed a piece of equipment that fits through an elevator door. The second thing is, by doing that, you can no longer use the current technology with fan, pulley, and belt. You need to implement a fan that can move large volumes of air at high pressures and is compact. So we switched to a fan with a BLDC Inverter motor that allows us to have a smooth start and efficient consumption," said Cesar Penailillo, Business Solution Leader at LG Electronics.

For her part, Ilka Quintero Vega, Sales Engineer of the company, said that "events such as the pandemic have led us to contemplate aspects that were not previously prioritized so much in projects, due to factors such as the budget. One of them is air quality, with a very strong demand now in the market, which is why effective filtration solutions are needed. However, if you add filters to a traditional machine, they are not enough for its pressure drop and you start to have problems with the airflow and cooling of the project itself. We decided, therefore, to develop these new AHU units that offer optimal performance in this regard."

Technological innovations
In front of the guests at the launch, among which were strategic customers from different countries, LG Electronics unveiled the specifications and advantages of its new handlers. Thus, attendees were able to learn that each AHU has a remote control that allows a simple configuration of the static pressure in the ducts, guaranteeing the temperature and airflow parameters within the enclosures.

"Depending on the pipeline, we can reach two inches in pressure drop. That helps us to make a fan setting, through the thermostat, so we don't have to be fighting with the equipment, or adjusting pulleys, or measuring amperage. Simply, a simple adjustment is made that facilitates installation," said Ilka Quintero Vega (on the left, in the image).

In the same way, the Engineer explained that the equipment has integrated plug fan technology, which allows different duct schemes to be coupled without impairing the necessary air supply and guaranteeing the comfort required in the areas to be conditioned: "The plug fan motor is a direct coupling, thanks to which we do not have belts nor is it necessary to make changes in the motor to make the desired adjustments".

In addition to the detachable design that makes it easy to move equipment indoors with difficult access, there are other key features, such as connectivity, reduced maintenance of fans and motors, configurable duct connection, and easy maintenance of filters, among others.

"We innovated in many aspects of the solution, from controls to sustainability and energy efficiency. We also work a lot on the issue of comfort, not only thermal but also auditory. That's where we have a strong advantage because our equipment is very quiet. Additionally, we have scaled to things that are not offered by the competition, such as supply control," Quintero Vega emphasized.

In this way, with a positive balance from LG Electronics, the launch of the brand's new Air Handler Units was concluded.

"The truth is that we are extremely happy; at the launch we were accompanied by more than 35 customers from different countries: from all over Central America, the Caribbean, Venezuela, Guyana and Ecuador," concluded César Penailillo (right, in the image), who was equally satisfied with the good reception that the solution had among the invited customers and other attendees of the event.
