ASHRAE Launches Data Center Resources Page

ASHRAE lanza una página con recursos para centros de datos

InternationalASHRAE launched this new page with the goal of helping professionals maintain optimal temperature and humidity levels in data centers, where servers and other computing equipment generate significant amounts of heat.

This online resource center provides data center design and operations professionals with the latest standards, guidelines, and best practices, helping them stay compliant while improving sustainability.

The new site offers a wide range of technical materials, including publications, standards, guidelines, and research papers, all developed by ASHRAE's renowned experts. These resources address various aspects of data center design and operation, including cooling, power distribution, energy efficiency, and thermal management. ASHRAE's goal is to equip professionals with the knowledge they need to optimize data center performance and make informed decisions.

"With the rapid growth of digital infrastructure, the demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and big data continues to increase. Efficient refrigeration systems are essential to reducing operating costs and environmental impact," said ASHRAE 2024-25 President M. Dennis Knight. "ASHRAE understands the unique challenges of data center cooling and is proud to offer this platform, which provides professionals with the latest industry knowledge and resources in one place."

Highlights of the resource page include:

  • ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.9 Encyclopedia of Data Communication: A collection of essential knowledge on important data communication topics such as facility design considerations, ITE design considerations, environmental guidelines, cooling technologies, energy efficiency in a central center, and more (an annual subscription fee is required to access).
  • Data Center Standards and Guidance: Basic guidance such as the ANSI/ASHRAE 90.4-2022 standard, Data Center Power Standard and the ASHRAE 127-2020 standard, test methods for qualifying air conditioning units serving data centers (DCs) and other information technology equipment, as well as new resources, such as updated chapters on data centers from the ASHRAE Handbook.
  • ASHRAE Datacom Series: A staple in the data center industry for nearly two decades, it provides comprehensive treatment of data center cooling and related topics.

In addition to technical resources, the site provides links to relevant ASHRAE conferences, events, and professional development opportunities. By connecting professionals with industry experts and encouraging knowledge sharing, ASHRAE aims to facilitate continuous learning and professional development within the data center community.
