"CITY OF PUPIALES", 2011
A COLOMBIA EVENT FOR THE WORLD
The "Gabriel García Márquez" Foundation, in consultation with the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Nariño and the Municipal Mayor's Office of Pupiales, and with the support of Power Plants of Nariño, CEDENAR, and the Social Enterprise of the State "San Juan Bautista" of Pupiales, announces the VIII International Contest of Ecological Story "City of Pupiales", 2011.
Contest rules
1) Colombian or foreign writers can participate, regardless of their age, with the exception of the winners and finalists of the previous edition, with a story written in Spanish, maximum 10 pages, letter size, double space, 12-point font.
2) Ecological theme. Stories with different themes will not be taken into account by the Qualifying Jury.
3) A prize of TWO THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS and the Medal of International Merit "Gabriel García Márquez", for the First Place; three million Colombian pesos and the Medal of Merit "Aurelio Arturo", for Second Place; two million Colombian pesos and the Medal of Merit "Guillermo Edmundo Chaves", for Third Place. The Medal for Young Literary Talent "Manuel Zapata Olivella" and a collection of literary works (5 volumes), for the best story written by a child under 18 years old. Six more works will be selected as finalists.
4) The works must be sent by Word attachment to the following address: [email protected], before September 5, 2011. The organization does not correspond with the participants.
5) Moral clause: It is the duty of the participating writer to plant a tree or sponsor a species in danger of extinction in the city, province, department or country where he resides, the day when he makes the referral of his literary work, without forgetting that the conservation of the planet is a global problem, but whose solution begins at home.
6) At the end of each story the following table must be added completed with the requested information (mandatory):

7) The jury is composed of writers and journalists Enrique Santos Molano, Juan Revelo, Fernando Iriarte, Milciades Arévalo and Albeiro Arciniegas.
The verdict and the award ceremony will take place in Pupiales, Colombia, on November 18, 2011. This result will be communicated personally to the award-winning writers and will be disseminated through different media.
9) The winning stories, as well as the jury's minutes, will be published on the website http://www.albeiroarciniegas.com, in order to have a wide dissemination in Colombia and abroad.
10) Participation in the contest is an express manifestation of acceptance of the different points that govern the call. The prize will not be declared void.
