Air conditioning in supermarket

In a supermarket in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, an air conditioning project was carried out to condition the different areas of the 4,000 square meter space.

By Lennox

The challenge: to install an air conditioning system in a supermarket of four thousand square meters dedicated to the sale of food products, offering thermal conditioning for the different seasons of the year.

Why Lennox?
The positive experience and knowledge of the brand on the part of the thermal conditioning advisory firm and by the client, which has Lennox systems installed in other premises, in addition to the energy efficiency of the 50Hz heat pump system, gave Lennox an important competitive advantage.

About the building
Fresh Market is the most sophisticated and specialized format of the Disco chain. Its design stands out for the distribution, decoration and layout of the sections to improve and prioritize the shopping experience of customers of their gourmet and specialized products. The store is located in Punta Carretas Shopping, in Montevideo, Uruguay, and demanded an investment of US $ 4.5 million in a work that lasted for 28 months

The challenges of the project
The selection of the cooling and heating system for the supermarket environment was made together with the architectural project of the Estudio Guerra Arquitectos Asociados. The Eduardo Di Fabio Engineering Studio designed the installation of the air conditioning equipment, presenting a complete project, fulfilling the technical requirements, also considering the incidence of the four seasons of the year and its impact on the internal environment of the supermarket and on the products marketed there.

Considering the need to condition a space of four thousand square meters and the importance of installing robust equipment that meets the requirements of energy efficiency, the system equipped with heat pump, to offer cooling in summer and heating in winter proved to be the best alternative.

The solution
Lennox's Landmark package units model KHA240 were chosen for meeting the requirements set out in the installation project. This system equipped with 50Hz heat pump, meets customer expectations in terms of durability and environmental efficiency. These systems guarantee an adequate temperature inside the supermarket both during the winter and in the summer.

With 22 years of experience, the company MED Termomecánica Instalaciones, was in charge of carrying out the integration of the thermal conditioning systems, managing to deliver the project without any setbacks.

For the engineer Gabriel García, from MED Termomecánica Instalaciones, the reliability and efficiency of the Lennox equipment allowed to carry out the installation and integration project of the air conditioning system successfully.

The result
The customer values the Lennox brand and wants to unify the installation of HVAC systems in their larger stores using Lennox equipment, taking advantage of their positive experience. It should also be noted the support offered by the brand, as well as its reliability, maintaining its commitment to the delivery times of the equipment, which allowed the completion of the project within the established deadline.

"The Landmark Lennox KHA240 line offers products that work with a 50Hz heat pump, which is ideal for the Uruguayan market," concludes Gabriel García, director of MED Termomecánica Instalaciones.

Project information
- Disco Fresh Market Supermarket – Punta Carretas, Montevideo, Uruguay.
- 220 tons of HVAC
- 11 pack units of the Landmark Lennox KHA240 series
- Solution with 50Hz heat pump, compatible with Uruguay's energy service, operational efficiency and brand positioning in the country.

Summary
In a new supermarket of four thousand square meters, specialized in the sale of fresh products, ready to consume and prepare, 11 package units of the Landmark series model KHA240 were installed, of high durability and resistance, promoting efficiently and reliably the maintenance of ambient temperature in an adequate range during the different seasons of the year.

The knowledge of the brand by the advisory firm, the trust of the integrating company and the compliance of Lennox with the delivery of the equipment, guaranteed customer satisfaction and brand valuation, thus opening an opportunity for the client to continue with the unification of the air conditioning systems of other stores in its chain with Lennox systems.
