Colombia. The German company TEKO has taken a significant step in its expansion strategy in Latin America by assembling, for the first time in Colombia, three ecological refrigeration systems with transcritical CO₂ technology.
The equipment, Roxsta model, was developed for a distribution center and represents an important advance in the transfer of knowledge and technology to the region.
The assembly was carried out by TEKO's subsidiary in the Americas as part of its commitment to local growth, providing solutions tailored to each customer. The project seeks to demonstrate that it is possible to offer efficient, sustainable refrigeration systems adapted to the current demands of the industrial sector.
Technical details of the project:
- 36 compressors in total (24 medium temperature and 12 low temperature)
- Installed capacity: 1,680 kW at medium temperature (MV) and 780 kW at low temperature (LV)
- Refrigerated area: 10,000 m²
- Operational redundancy and high-reliability components
- Active liquid subcooling for improved performance
- Electrical cabinets manufactured in Colombia, in the process of UL certification
- Plate exchangers for gas subcooling
- Design pressures:
- 30/60 bar in-line suction (BT)
- 45/60 bar in-line suction (MT)
- 45/60/80 bar at medium pressure
- 120 bar at high pressure
- State-of-the-art controllers, compatible with other VMS systems
- Heat recovery systems for defrosting with glycol water
- Two variable speed drives per rack
The decision to use transcritical CO₂ technology responds to a long-term vision that prioritizes sustainability. As a natural, non-toxic refrigerant suitable for urban areas, CO₂ represents a safe, efficient alternative aligned with the environmental goals of industrial customers.
The project demonstrates the potential of natural refrigeration technology to reduce emissions, optimize energy consumption and ensure reliable operation, consolidating TEKO as a benchmark in customized and high-performance solutions for the Latin American market.
