International. Armstrong Fluid Technology's expanded range of permanent magnet motor pumps enables a reduction in energy consumption of between 35% and 65%, compared to conventional integrated pumps equipped with induction motors.
Available starting in February and equipped with motors up to 60 HP, these wrap-around pumps operate at NEMA Ultra-Premium efficiency levels that exceed targets set by the U.S. Department of Energy and NRCan's Office of Energy Efficiency, according to the manufacturer.
Wrap-around permanent magnet pumps feature smaller overall dimensions and are easier to install because their motor technology offers a substantial reduction in both size and weight. The more compact design dramatically reduces embodied carbon, contributing to sustainability.
"Design innovations, including permanent magnet motor technology, improved hydraulics and intelligent, connected variable speed control, make these new pumps more energy-efficient and more cost-effective", said David Lee, Offering Manager for Armstrong Fluid Technology.
Armstrong's patented sensorless parallel control starts multiple pumps and regulates the output to achieve the best efficiency across the entire pump set, saving up to 30% in operating costs.
Design Envelope (DE) technology also provides highly accurate flow measurement (+/- 5%). This means contractors can avoid the cost of purchasing and installing flow meters for HVAC systems.
Monitoring Software
To achieve sustained performance and efficiency, DE permanent magnet pumps are available with Pump Manager, a cloud-based performance tracking service.
Pump Manager provides analytics and insights along with alerts, alarms, and data storage to help owners make Active Performance Management a key part of their daily operational practices.
