International. ASHRAE and the International Code Council (ICC) announced the publication of the regulatory proposal that would regulate the assessment of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in buildings.
Standard 240P (Life Cycle Quantification of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Buildings) aims to support the construction industry, governments, and the financial and investment industry in implementing a common platform for measurements.
"The 240P standard will play a critical role in addressing embodied carbon and will have a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions from the built environment, particularly within mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems", said current ASHRAE President Ginger Scoggins.
The draft of the new regulation can be commented on online until March 18.
"We are pleased to collaborate with the ICC on this standard, recognizing the potential of the joint effort to promote effective solutions and contribute to a more sustainable future", Scoggins concluded.
