ebmpapst developed a new compact centrifugal module

International. Centrifugal fans are the method of choice for cooling a control cabinet when it comes to overcoming comparatively high back pressure in the internal circuit of heat exchangers or for ceiling-mounted fans.

To also benefit from the advantages of EC technology in this field, fan and motor specialist ebm-papst has developed a new compact centrifugal module.

In the cooling of a control cabinet, free-running centrifugal fans are often combined with nozzles or protective grills, which is not recommended. The components, which are purchased separately, are not optimally coordinated and the fan does not behave as expected during application. This means that losses and a higher noise level must be accepted, for example. Therefore, users are advised to purchase complete centrifugal fans, in which all components are already integrated and aerodynamically optimized.

Efficient compact module with interference immunity up to 3 kV.
With the K1G190, ebm-papst has developed a new compact and centrifugal module compatible with plug & play, which is perfectly coordinated for the requirements of such distribution cabinet applications. It also facilitates easy entry into low-power EC technology for the user, as there are considerable advantages compared to conventional solutions due to the new design measures. Unlike air conditioning variants, EC fans work in a much more efficient way due to their higher efficiency. They are also quieter and the speed can be controlled according to the requirements. Due to its immunity to interference up to 3 kV, the electronics have no problem with interference in the supply network.

Durable and future-proof
The design of the new compact centrifugal modules promises a high level of availability and reliability for the future: this means that a service life of 10 years (90,000 hours of operation) is guaranteed. Currently, an extended voltage input of 100-240 V is being developed, with which the compact centrifugal module can be used globally. In addition to the basic variant, depending on the requirements, the electronics can be extended with additional features, such as condition monitoring and predictive maintenance. The conversion to EC technology is therefore the first step into the future.
