France. About 15% of global energy consumption is used to power refrigeration and air conditioning systems, inefficient systems are a source of waste and global warming. In response to this problem, the International Refrigeration Institute has published the guide "Energy Saving in Refrigeration Technology, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps".
It describes how to analyze the efficiency of the facilities and optimize the design to make systems profitable. The main topics are: effects of system components on efficiency, applications, reduction of heat loads, relevant thermodynamic principles, choice of refrigerant, design opportunities for systems and equipment, energy-efficient operation, heat recovery opportunities, energy storage and natural cooling, measurement of electricity consumption, regulations and standards in different countries and case studies.
Initially an English version has been published, and volumes of terms with their equivalent in Spanish and other languages will be added later. The guide can be requested at: www.iifiir.org/en/details.php?id=1161.
