USA. USA The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) has recently experienced tremendous growth. Since January 2007, the number of companies that have integrated has increased by 25 percent. HVI was founded more than 50 years ago by five companies that were dissatisfied with product certification and evaluation programs; Today, HVI membership includes 50 manufacturers worldwide responsible for the production of most residential ventilation products sold in North America.
This new success can be attributed to the reliable certification program, created to offer a credible method when comparing ventilation performance in similar products.
Many U.S. agencies rely on this method, such as the Department of Energy and ASHRAE and in Canada, the National Building Code and Housing Program. For more information visit: www.hvi.org.
The BQM measuring device offers instantaneous information, pertinent to the hardness of a box that is directly related to the structural integrity of the corrugated medium. Its inventor, Russell Allen states that "so far, the industry has accepted an inherent degree of loss of performance in specifications, of more than 30 percent.
The potential for reductions in material use and energy will help companies both commercially and environmentally."
