Costa Rica. This new infrastructure equipped with temperature-controlled systems is being built by Walmart Central America in the Coyol de Alajuela.
"This new Perishable Distribution Center Costa Rica (CEDI) will be the largest of its kind in Central America, thanks to its 13,000 square meters of construction and an investment of US $46.8 million," said Walmart Central America spokespeople.
Similarly, the company specified that, once completed, the facilities will be the epicenter for the generation of approximately 200 direct jobs and will have the most advanced technology in sustainability.
"20% of its consumption will be supplied with renewable energy, it will have a cooling plant with CO2 as a refrigerant medium and an innovative system of thermal batteries to maintain the temperature of the freezing chambers without depending on electricity," Walmart added.
It was also known that the new CEDI will be specifically dedicated to the storage of perishable raw materials and frozen products such as dairy, meat, seafood and sausages.
