Multi-Wing's Net Zero Strategy has been validated by the SBTi initiative

Estrategia Neta Cero de Multi-Wing ha sido validada por la iniciativa SBTi

International. Multi-Wing announced the validation of its carbon reduction targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), emphasizing that the milestone underscores its commitment to climate change mitigation.

The SBTi is a collaboration between the CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Since its inception in 2015, more than 1,000 companies have joined the initiative to set science-based climate targets. The validation of Multi-Wing's targets confirms that Denmark-based airflow experts are in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Validated Key Objectives

  • Net zero emissions by 2050: Multi-Wing is committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its value chain by 2050.
  • Short-term goals: By 2030, Multi-Wing aims to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% from a base year of 2022. In addition, Scope 3 GHG emissions will be reduced by 51.6% for every million euros of value added in the same timeframe.
  • Long-term goals: From 2030 to 2050, Multi-Wing is committed to maintaining a minimum of 90% absolute GHG emission reductions of scope 1 and 2. The company is also committed to reducing absolute Scope 3 emissions by 90% by 2050.
  • Renewable energy: Multi-Wing plans to increase its annual renewable electricity supply from 39.95% in 2022 to 100% in 2030.

"Achieving SBTi validation is a testament to our dedication to environmental sustainability," said Casper Pedersen, Head of ESG and Government Affairs at Multi-Wing Group. "We are confident in our ability to meet these ambitious goals through strategic investments, such as switching to heat pumps and increasing the efficiency of our products. Our commitment to renewable energy and our efforts to reduce GHG emissions will also play a crucial role in our journey to a sustainable future."

According to the executive, Multi-Wing's climate goals have been meticulously developed and validated using the latest methods and tools approved by SBTi, a validation process that ensures that Multi-Wing's goals are scientifically sound and aligned with global climate goals.

The company's efforts include improving product efficiency and sourcing low-carbon materials such as recycled aluminum. Multi-Wing is also exploring renewable energy solutions for all of its sites and leveraging renewable energy certificates where direct deployment of renewable energy is not feasible.

"The SBTi's validation of our CO2 reduction targets confirms that we are on the right track," Pedersen added. "This validation not only demonstrates our commitment to the fight against climate change, but also shows our dedication to customers and the environment."

Multi-Wing is arguably one of the first companies in the booster business to have its climate and CO2 targets approved by the SBTi and became an included member on the SBTi website on July 4, 2024. The company committed to publicly reporting its annual progress, ensuring transparency and accountability on its sustainability journey.
