Mexico. The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) withdrew the injunction it had imposed against a group of rules that promote the installation of photovoltaic systems in homes and small and medium-sized enterprises, and now it will be easier to generate energy for homes in this country.
"The specific reasons are unknown. But the Commission has decided that the best thing for the sector was to withdraw the request for amparo," said the secretary general of the National Solar Energy Association (ANES), Héctor Hernández.
In April 2017, the CFE sued alleging possible effects on its income due to the new provisions established by the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). However, he announced that he gave up on it.
The regulation now allows households or businesses to install solar panels and receive payment from the CFE in case of generating more energy than they need, and that this electricity is injected into the Commission's grid, so that it can serve other users.
This sector expects new projects to skyrocket thanks to the withdrawal of amparo, because regulation is attractive to users and SMEs, which opens a new market in Mexico.
"Even with the amparo there was a 100% growth of distributed generation, but with this withdrawal we believe that we can grow to 200%," said the representative of ANES, an association specialized in this type of systems for photovoltaic distributed generation.
The installation of these schemes can reach 100,000 panels at the end of the year thanks to this action of the national electricity company, compared to the 60,000 that were put last year.
