Chile. With the presence of prominent authorities, the closure of the Air Conditioning Project promoted by the Chilean Chamber of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, and the National Commission for the Certification of Labor Competencies, ChileValora, was carried out.
The project resulted in the survey of the new profile of Operations and Maintenance Supervisor in Refrigeration Systems with Ammonia, in addition to the updating of five other profiles and the survey of another 3 based on other profiles of the ChileValora Catalog. Training plans were also built based on the standards defined in the different occupational profiles, which, once incorporated into the training offer by the National Training and Employment Service (SENCE), will improve labor skills, thus promoting learning and continuous improvement.
In Chile, a large part of refrigeration systems use ammonia as a refrigerant component, a fact that entails a series of risks if the corresponding safety aspects are not contemplated and that, in addition, is not regulated before formal regulations.
That is why the need arose to strengthen the tasks and tasks carried out by workers in the area of air conditioning and refrigeration and improve the associated production processes to respond adequately to the growing demands, challenges and current production demands.
For Jelly González, deputy director of ChileValora, "this project takes on a special relevance, since it has allowed to identify the working conditions that can contribute to the improvement in the quality of the execution of the work, added to the safety in the use and handling of refrigerants such as ammonia".
It should be noted that this work was carried out in a tripartite manner, through a social dialogue that integrated the voices of workers, employers and the State. Meanwhile, the field work was carried out in the regions of Tarapacá, Valparaíso, Metropolitana and Los Lagos.
