[Eurovent](https://www.eurovent.eu/) has published a second version of its Recommendation 9/12 on the performance efficiency standard for evaporative cooling equipment. This second edition includes radial fans, which are a subcategory of centrifugal fans. The main objective of this Recommendation is to define the energy efficiency of mechanical draft evaporative cooling products and to determine target levels to improve the energy efficiency of the population of mechanical draft evaporative cooling products in Europe and the Middle East over time. In this recommendation, members of the Eurovent Product Group 'Evaporative Cooling Equipment' (PG-CT) provided the methods to be applied by suppliers to verify that the defined efficiency targets are met. ![](https://www.acrlatinoamerica.com/images/Massimiliano%20Ferrario.jpg)Massimiliano Ferrario, Secretary of Eurovent PG-CT, said: "The second edition of this Recommendation follows the recent approval of the Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2024/1834 on industrial fans between 125 W and 500 kW, which is likely to phase out centrifugal fans from our market. Accordingly, we have updated the Recommendation to include radial fans, which will be the successors to centrifugal cooling tower fans.
