This has been indicated by [Sodeca](https://www.sodeca.com/es), manufacturer of Atex ventilation solutions, designed to prevent the accumulation of gases and the risk of fires in environments with explosive atmospheres.

Hydrogen has a wide variety of industrial and scientific applications. It is also a source of clean energy, as it can be produced from various sources, such as water and fossil fuels. The element is also used in the chemical industry, for the production of ammonia, methanol and other products.

**Prevention costs less**
Devices installed in areas with explosive atmospheres must be designed to prevent ignitions. However, this implies a significant increase in installation, maintenance and safety costs. Therefore, many companies seek to minimize areas classified as hazardous, through the use of ventilation systems.

To achieve the total or partial declassification of an enclosure with explosive atmosphere, it is necessary to ventilate with air free of explosive gases or dusts. This reduces the concentration of gases, keeping it below the explosive limits. In turn, this makes it possible to reduce the anti-explosive requirements of the devices installed on site.

**Sodeca's proposal**
Atex fans for extraction in hydrogen environments have an Ex h IIB+H2 T4 Gb marking. In addition, they are designed and built according to the European Standard EN 14986: 2017, being suitable for use in Zone 1 (Category 2) and comply with the provisions of European Directive 2014/34 / EU.
